Adobe Lightroom – Overview
Most photographers have been wondering what Adobe Lightroom is. Some of you may have been using this software for over a year yet the question that still lingers in some of the mind of the photographers is why should I use Adobe Lightroom?
• The program is quite simple. At first glance you might think it is alarming and confusing with all the various panels, buttons and sliders but after you notice, from navigating and browsing the entire program, you cannot ruin or damage your photos because the adjustments and controls provided by the program is non-damaging, meaning you can retain the originality of your photos.
• Since it cannot damage or destroy the original of your photos, it is hassle-free. It would take time to familiarize and become accustomed to the thought that you are operating with a non-damaging tool. Some programs have a reset function to reset everything you have done. Amazingly, Adobe Lightroom has that feature.
• The color adjustments in Adobe Lightroom, like the Saturation, Hue and Luminance adjustments are very easy to use and are hassle-free since they are non-damaging.
• You can also run Adobe Photoshop together with Adobe Lightroom if you want to edit some of your photos. To access Adobe Photoshop (if you have Photoshop installed in your computer), select edit in Photoshop CS (the photo or file is converted to PSD or TIFF), then edit the photos in Photoshop and then save. The changes you applied to that photo is ready in Lightroom as a PSD or TIFF format file.
• You can have any external photo editor, just like Photoshop; the directions are the same when you want to edit it on an external photo editor.
• Group or batch editing of photos is possible in Adobe Lightroom but is limited to photographers who want to take time editing at one photo.
• In Adobe Lightroom you can assign ratings or keywords to a huge number of photos when you import them from you camera and instantly after importing. If you have the patience to do this small task, it will be really easy to find the photos once you have a number of them, not only within the week of your import but onto the next week and a few years after.
Being a photographer is quite fun, especially when you have enjoyed collecting a large number of photos along the way. Having Adobe Lightroom lightens the burden on browsing and scanning the photos of your collection, and at the same time edit them without any hassle at all.
